Kathmandu: The government has issued an ordinance amending the Political Parties Act. Provision has been made in the ordinance for the members of the provincial assembly and the elected people’s representatives at the local level to chose any one party within three weeks. The ordinance has been brought so that even if he joins a new party within that period.

Sub-section 2 (2a) of Section 33 of the Political Parties Act has been added. According to the added provision, if an elected member of the provincial assembly or a member of the local level joins a new party within 21 days, such member will not lost the post.
