MCP TF suggestion: ‘Working to bring the local level within the jurisdiction of the province’

Kathmandu: The task force(TF) formed to prepare a minimum common program(MCP) for running the coalition government has suggested to take initiative to bring the local level within the jurisdiction of the province.

Although the task force included the point in the draft of the program under the heading ‘Implementation of Federalism and Strengthening of Federal Democratic Republic’, it was not mentioned in detail. The draft also states that the remaining offices will be handed over to the provinces as per the constitution.

In the draft, it has been said that the federal law will be made and amended to facilitate the making of laws on the issues on the list of rights of the provinces. In coordination with the province government, the work of province police integration will be taken forward as soon as possible. The draft prepared by the seven-member task force led by Congress General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka is being prepared to be made public after the top leaders of the coalition finalize it.

According to a member of the task force, the draft also includes the issue of investigating irregularities in the procurement of health items during the KP Sharma Oli-led government and taking action if found guilty.

It is mentioned that the Federal Civil Service Bill, Citizenship Bill and other much needed bills should be passed as soon as possible, Nepalis living abroad should be given the right to vote and e-bidding system should be implemented in the public sector to build a well-governed and corruption-free economy.
