Madhav Nepal’s party name amendment as ‘CPN Unified Socialist’

Kathmandu: Madhav Nepal faction has changed the name given to the Election Commission for registration of a new party. Earlier, the CPN-UML was called Samajwadi, but now the name of the party will be ‘CPN-Unified Socialist’.

A team including Rajendra Pandey reached the Election Commission and amended the name. Earlier, the Election Commission had said that the name proposed by Nepal was in conflict with the name of CPN-UML (Socialist). The new name has been proposed after seeing the possibility of rejecting the UML-linked name.

Similarly, the 95-member Central Committee has been proposed and its number has been increased to 115. The election symbol has not been decided yet. An ‘open book’ election symbol was proposed for the new party. However, when he merged with another party, a dispute arose.

Informing that the team including Rajendra Pandey had registered the tender as per sub-rule 5 of rule 5 of the rules on political parties, a commission source, “They have filed the tender as per the rules.” The process of identifying the central members will move forward soon. ‘

There is a legal provision for the commission to give legitimacy to the new party after completing the process including identification of the central members mentioned in the application for party registration. Although the commission can take 35 days for this, it will be finalized soon, said an official of the commission.
