Kul Prasad KC appointed Chief Minister of Lumbini

Butwal : Leader of the CPN-Maoist Central Parliamentary Party Kul Prasad KC has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province.

Lumbini Province chief Amik Sherchan on Thursday appointed KC as the chief minister of the coalition government.

KC has the support of a four-party alliance including the Nepali Congress in the Province assembly and the support of 42 MPs, including Ajay Shahi, an MP elected from the Sun symbol.He is close to Leader Hirdyes Tripathi.

According to Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, KC Lumbini has become the second Chief Minister of the province. Earlier, CPN-UML leader Shankar Pokharel was the Chief Minister.

KC, who was directly elected from Rolpa’s Constituency No. 1 (1), had earlier been the Minister of Internal Affairs and Law in the Shankar Pokharel-led government.

After the CPN (MC) and UML split, he resigned on April 20 and signed a no-confidence motion against CM Pokhrel.
