First woman Chief Minister in Bagmati province

Kathmandu : The Chief Minister of Bagmati has been changed. Dormani Poudel has resigned and Ashtalakshmi Shakya has been appointed as the new Chief Minister. Appointed as the chief minister on Wednesday night, she was immediately administered the oath of office and secrecy by state chief Bishnu Prasad Prasai.

As per Article 168 (1) of the constitution, the provincial chief Prasai has appointed Shakya as the chief minister on the basis of majority. Today, she was elected the leader of the UML parliamentary party.

At the same time, Shakya has become the first woman Chief Minister of Nepal. Although there was a woman minister in the provincial government formed after the country went to federalism, she did not become the chief minister, that is, men had become the chief minister in all the provincial before.
Shakya got her mother after the political developments after the UML split. Considering Madhav Nepal’s faction, she has agreed to change the camp and become the chief minister from the UML establishment.
