Kathmandu :Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana has left the bench. He left the bench saying that he was sitting in the bench for the hearing of the writ petition which he was also against.
According to a Supreme Court source, Chief Justice Rana will no longer sit in the first and last hearing of the writ petition. After the question was raised against him, the judges left the bench and discussed that the Chief Justice will not be present in the final hearing.
Advocate Omprakash Aryal said that even the Chief Justice was in opposition and that he should not sit in the bench.
He said that he was sitting in the meeting of the Constitutional Council due to his constitutional obligation and would not leave the bench as he was the Chief Justice. But after discussions with other judges of the Constitutional Court, he decided to leave.
