Kathmandu: Thankon’s Chandragiri Hills and Gokarna-based Gokarna Forest Resort have been recognized as ‘luxury resorts’. The visitor resort in Banepa has got deluxe level recognition
Apart from these three, the standard of other resorts across the country will be ‘normal’. The Department of Tourism has made public the details of the resorts and star-rated hotels registered with the department.
According to the department, the number of resorts at the ‘ordinary’ level is 99. This level includes most of the tourist resorts. The standard resorts of Kathmandu, Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, Pokhara and Sauraha(Chitawan) are included in this list.
The five-star hotel reached 16
According to the latest classification, the number of five-star hotels in Nepal has reached 16. According to the Department of Tourism, the five-star hotel Mechi Crown, newly built by Vegas City Entertainment Pvt Ltd..
The department had classified the hotel as a five-star standard on 19 February 2020. The hotel has come into operation with a total of 185 rooms in 100 rooms.
Recently, the opening of five-star hotels outside the Kathmandu Valley has intensified. Out of 16 five stars, 10 are within the Kathmandu Valley.
Six five-stars are open in the off-season. There are a total of 2641 rooms in five-star hotels across the country.
These hotels can serve 3939 guests at a time.

Three hotels in the ‘luxury’ level of Heritage Boutique Hotel
The government has started classifying the standard hotels as heritage boutique hotels. Three hotels are listed on the luxury level of this classification.
Dwarikaj Kathmandu Village Hotel in Battisputali, Basera Boutique Hotel in Babar Mahal, Kathmandu and Pavera Boutique Hotel in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu have been classified as luxury heritage boutique hotels.
