Afghan President reached in Tajikistan, try to flee in third country

Kathmandu (Agencies) : Afghanistan has been surprisingly taken over by the armed militant group Taliban. According to Chinese media Global Times, Afghan president Asraf Ghani has recently left the country and reached neighboring country Tajikistan.’Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and First Vice President Amrullah Saleh have left the country and headed to Tajikistan, from where they are going to a third country, media reported.

Earlier, Taliban representatives and President Ghani held talks at the President’s Office. During the talks, the Afghan government’s interior minister said he would hand over power peacefully to the Taliban.

The Taliban were ousted by US forces from Afghanistan two decades ago. Since then, nearly 4.5 lakhs people have died in the US-led Western-led coalition in Afghanistan and in the repression of the Taliban.
The Taliban have taken control of Afghanistan since the US surprisingly left Kabul just three weeks ago.
For the past two years, the US government has been negotiating with the Taliban in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Only three months ago, a secret agreement was reached between the US administration and the Taliban. As a result of that agreement, the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan twenty years later.

The Western media has claimed that China, Riyadh, Iran and Pakistan have supported the Taliban ahead of the United States.
The future of Afghanistan is still uncertain.
