Kathmandu: The Election Commission has signed the 51-member executive committee of the Janata Samajwadi Party to resolve the dispute. Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) executive member Resham Chaudhary, who is lodged in Dilli Bazaar Jail, signed the petition in the presence of the Election Commission. He took stand as a neutrality saying the being a JSP’s cadre.
The Election Commission had called all the central executive members on Monday to identify the signatures to resolve the JSP’s official dispute.
Chaudhary has reached the commission from Dilli Bazaar Jail to the commission. He had come in a police vehicle.
In the JSP dispute, 34 out of 51 members are in favor of Upendra-Baburam. Only 16 members have signed less than 40 percent in favor of Thakur-Mahato.
Thakur-Mahato’s faction has lost 40 percent of the seats in the parliamentary party after 23 out of 35 candidates stood in favor of Upendra-Baburam.
According to the provisions of the Political Parties Act, a member of the party’s central executive committee and 40 percent of the Parliamentary party committee are required to form a new party.
Now the Thakur faction has no choice but to stay with the Yadav faction or form another new party. If a new party is formed, their parliamentary seat will be revoked.
