Upendra Yadav group decides to join government

Kathmandu : Upendra Yadav of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (JSP) is going to join the government. A meeting of the group’s parliamentary parties has decided to join the government led by the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

A meeting of the parliamentary parties, which have a majority of the current number of MPs, has decided to join the government. JSP executive member and MP Mohammad Istiaq Rai informed that the meeting held in the presence of 19 out of the 32 members of the party decided to sit on the ruling party’s bench.

According to him, the meeting has decided to take part in the government by raising party issues on the basis of minimum common program. The meeting of the reinstated House of Representatives is being held on Sunday afternoon.

According to Rai, 19 members including 17 federal MPs and three members of the National Assembly participated in today’s meeting of the Yadav group. JSP has 35 MPs in both the houses. There are 32 federal MPs and three MPs in the National Assembly. It is said that some lawmakers in favor of another party chairman Mahanta Thakur also sided with Yadav.

Leader of Upendra faction and Member of the House of Representatives Pradip Yadav said that MPs including Pramod Sah, Amrita Agrahari, Rani Mandal and Naramaya Dhakal who were in favor of Mahanta Thakur came in favor of Upendra Yadav. He claimed that some MPs were still out of the valley and could not attend the meeting and that four MPs were still in touch.

He did not want to say who the other four MPs were. Earlier, leaving Upendra Yadav, Vimal Srivastava, Uma Shankar Aragaria, Renuka Gurung and Ram Dulari Khatve had sided with Mahanta Thakur.
