The 23 lawmakers of the CPN (UML) who are petitioners in the case pending in the Supreme Court are firm in their recognition and signature : MK Nepal

Kathmandu: UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has clarified that the agreement reached on Sunday night regarding the internal unity of the party will not affect the case pending in the Supreme Court. Nepal has expressed such an objection to the statement made by Surya Thapa, Press Adviser to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli regarding the agreement.

He also said that Thapa’s statement was against the spirit of the discussion held at the task force level. “Last night’s agreement on the internal unity of the CPN (UML) at the working group level and the Facebook status of the press advisor to the prime minister and the party chairman regarding the interpretation of the agreement is contrary to the discussion.”

This interpretation is wrong and unacceptable, ‘Nepal wrote on social media Facebook on Monday morning .”I would like to make it clear that the interpretation of the case pending in the court or affecting or defaming the court is not acceptable. The 23 lawmakers of the CPN (UML) who are petitioners in the case pending in the Supreme Court are all together and firm in their recognition and signature.”

A petition filed by 146 lawmakers, including 23 from Nepal’s UML, seeking reinstatement of the House of Representatives and Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba as prime minister is under consideration in the Supreme Court.

In the same context, Thapa had made sarcastic remarks stating that there are now only 123 MPs supporting Deuba to become the Prime Minister.

His remarks reflect the Supreme Court’s intention to re-establish both the mandamus of Supreme Court and restore of the House of Representatives after the latest agreement.

He wrote, “With Sher Bahadur Deuba, the members of the outgoing House of Representatives are now only 146-23 = 123, neither the mandamus of the Supreme Court nor the restore! !”
