Kathmandu : Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to take a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives today.
Secretary to the House of Representatives Gopal Nath Yogi informed that Deuba’s proposal to take a vote of confidence has already been registered in the Parliament Secretariat.
According to Article 76 (5) of the Constitution, Deuba, who has been appointed the Prime Minister, has to take a vote of confidence within a month.
Following the Supreme Court’s recommendation, Nepali Congress President Deuba became the Prime Minister on July 13.
Deuba, who became the prime minister with the support of CPN (UML)senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal faction, is preparing to take a vote of confidence in the first meeting of the reinstated House of Representatives.
Earlier, the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had not received a vote of confidence in the parliament 2 month before.
A meeting of the reinstated House of Representatives has been called for 4 pm on Sunday.
There is a provision in the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives for the Speaker to fix the time and date after the Prime Minister registers the motion for a vote of confidence.
The Speaker will hold a second meeting today to move the motion for a vote of confidence.
