Kathmandu : The government has urged the vaccine producing countries to provide more vaccines to Nepal through grants or purchases.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Monday decided to thank all the countries for providing vaccines and essential health items to Nepal.
“We have also called on vaccine manufacturers and other allies to provide more vaccines through grants or purchases,” said government spokesman and law minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.
At present, Nepal has been vaccinated with Covishield produced by India, Verocell manufactured in China and Johnson & Johnson produced in USA. India had donated 1.1 million doses of vaccine while Nepal had purchased 1 million doses. China has provided 1.8 million doses of Verosel vaccine as grant while Nepal has also procured 4 millions to receiving is underway.
The Johnson & Johnson Company’s 1,534,850 doses of vaccine, recently provided by the United States under the Covax program, were brought to Kathmandu on 1st week of this month..
