Kathmandu: Congress MP Pradip Giri has urged the political parties to formulate a common foreign policy. Regarding the frequent disputes over the agreements with the powers, Giri said that foreign policy should be the same for all political parties.
Referring to UML MP Bhim Rawal’s remarks on the MCC agreement in the House of Representatives on Friday, Giri said that a common foreign policy should be decided rather than formulating views on treaties and agreements with the powers that be and then decide which treaty to accept and which to reject.
“The treaty proposal came from the United States. Another proposal may come from India, another from China, ‘he said. He said that unfounded and fierce differences have arisen in Nepal over the treaty. He said, “India, China, the United States, including the power of foreign policy in the context of so many unfounded and fierce differences?”
Suggesting that the political parties in the parliament and other stakeholders should have the same foreign policy, Giri asked, “Why can’t the stakeholders formulate a common foreign policy when the party system is running in the country?”
According to Giri, treaties and agreements with various countries are being used in Nepal to show their bitterness.
