Kathmandu : The government has said it wants to buy more vaccines against the corona virus from China. Finance Minister Janardan Sharma made the remarks during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yangchi.
Stating that the Government of Nepal has initiated the process of procuring more vaccines from China, Minister Sharma expressed confidence that the Ambassador would assist and facilitate it, according to the Secretariat of the Finance Minister.
Finance Minister Janardan Sharma and Ambassador Yanqi met at the ministry on Friday. During the meeting, Finance Minister Sharma thanked China for its assistance in the reconstruction of the covid epidemic and the earthquake and expressed confidence that Chinese assistance and goodwill would continue in the days to come.
Minister Sharma said that vaccinating the people against covid is s a priority of the government and thanked China for providing 1.8 million doses of vaccine. The government has already purchased 4 million doses of the vaccine from China.
It is said that Minister Sharma expressed his commitment on behalf of the government to solve the problems by monitoring the implementation of various projects run in Nepal with Chinese assistance.
He expressed his commitment to pay serious attention to the work to be done by the Government of Nepal to complete the projects under construction including roads, hydropower and airports with Chinese investment.
During the meeting, Chinese Ambassador Hou expressed the view that no matter which government comes, China’s policy and attitude towards Nepal will not change, according to the Secretariat of the Finance Minister. Talking about the good relations between the Chinese people and the Communist Party of Nepal and the Nepali political parties here, Ambassador Hou said that they have been with Nepal in the fight against the Kovid epidemic.
China has already given 1.8 million doses of vaccine to Nepal and will receive another 1.6 million doses of vaccine soon, she said.
