Deuba appointed prime minister for the fifth time

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has been appointed Prime Minister for the fifth time. President Vidyadevi Bhandari on Tuesday appointed him as the Prime Minister in accordance with Article 76, Sub-Article 5 of the Constitution. But the letter of appointment of the Prime Minister states that the appointment was made as per the order of the court.

The Supreme Court on Monday issued an order in the name of the President to appoint Deuba as the Prime Minister. In addition, the House of Representatives was reinstated and a parliamentary session was convened within a week.

The Supreme Court had issued an order to appoint Deuba as the prime minister on the basis of a claim signed by 149 lawmakers following a call for a prime minister under Article 76, Clause 5 of the constitution. The order issued in the name of the President’s Office said that Deuba should be taken Oath by 6 o’clock on Tuesday.

The Supreme Court had also ordered KP Sharma Oli, who became the Prime Minister under Article 76, Clause 2 and Clause 3 of the Constitution, not to make claims under Clause 5.
