Congress alleges PM Oli irresponsible BP Foundation movement

Kathmandu : Nepali Congress has accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the patriarch, of not showing interest in the agitation taking place at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.

Doctors, staffs and students have been protesting for a long time saying that the condition of the establishment is deteriorating due to various reasons including corruption and have demanded the resignation of the office bearers.

The Congress has demanded to find a quick solution to the problem through dialogue in the establishment. In a statement issued today, Prime Minister Oli, who is also the patriarch, accused the PM not taking the issue seriously.

“Even though the agitation of doctors, students and staff of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan has been going on for a month by presenting various demands, the patriarch of the academy has not taken the issue seriously and has not taken initiative to resolve the issue’ Sharma said in a statement.
The future of the organization cannot be secured only in the physical infrastructure by hurting the reputation of the organization and the spirit of those working day and night for the future. Therefore, the Nepali Congress demands the Prime Minister to create a conducive environment within the academy by immediately addressing the legitimate demands through meaningful dialogue with the doctors, staff and students involved in the movement’.

“There is no doubt that the prime minister has a number of responsibilities. But while saying that, to remain silent, neutral or to have no role without fulfilling the deep responsibility and duty of being the patriarch of the foundation is an extreme irresponsibility towards one’s responsibility, ‘the Congress alleges.
