China setup new organization of South Asian countries, excludes India

Kathmandu. Apart from India, South Asian nations and China have formally established a new organization.

The China-South Asian Poverty Alleviation and Cooperation Development Center(C-SAPACDC) is formally established in Chongqing, Sichuan Province, China on Thursday.

The ceremony was addressed by Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Jianghao and Ambassadors of Nepal, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to China, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Last April, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi proposed setting up the center during talks with foreign ministers from various South Asian countries on the Corona virus epidemic. In which other countries expressed support.

Despite being invited to the inauguration ceremony, India did not participate, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Bhutan and Maldives do not participate in the center, while China does not have diplomatic relations with Bhutan.

The purpose of the center is to integrate power and resources to reduce poverty and exchange knowledge for the economic development and livelihood improvement of South Asian countries.

At the event, Assistant Foreign Minister Wu said that the historic proposal made by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on China’s absolute poverty, was important not only for China and the Chinese people, but also for poverty elevation.

Chongqing Deputy Mayor Kai Yung said the establishment of the center is a new platform for cooperation between China and South Asia.

On the occasion of the establishment of the Poverty Alleviation Center, China also announced the establishment of South Asian Emergency Supply Reserve, China and South Asian E-Commerce Forum for Poverty Alleviation.

Analysts say that China has established SAARC as an alternative to SAARC after not being able to participate in it for many years. Due to its long diplomatic relations with China, Nepal has been participating in any forum or center proposed by China. Nepal’s participation in the Center could bring more conflict when Nepal has recently said that It is more close to India than china.
