Bringing single shots vaccine

Kathmandu: A single dose of ‘Jensen’ vaccine has been introduced against covid-19. The vaccine against covid produced by the American pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson is about to receive a grant from Nepal under the ‘Johnson’ Covax facility.

Johnson’s ‘Jensen AD26.COV.2’ is a single dose of vaccine. The vaccine was first approved for emergency use by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in February. The vaccine can be given to people over the age of 18. The World Health Organization has approved the vaccine for emergency use.

‘It has been confirmed that only one dose of Johnson vaccine will be given to Nepal,’ said Dr. Krishna Kumar, Director, Family Welfare Division, Ministry of Health. Taranath Pokhrel told ABC News, “We will know in a week’s time how much and for how long.” “The vaccine will be given to Covax by the US government and will come to us under the Covax quota,” he said.

The Johnson vaccine comes in five doses of 0.5 ml. Under the WHO policy, a single dose of vaccine should be kept at a temperature of 2 to 8C degree for 6 hours after inoculation. Cannot be used after 6 hours.

According to the World Health Organization’s Interim Guidelines for Vaccines, 0.5 ml of the vaccine is given intramuscularly to the deltoid muscle. So far, only one dose of the vaccine has been proposed. The need for additional dosage and time is being studied under clinical trials. According to Johnson, the vaccine can be stored at a temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius for two years and at a temperature of 2 to 8 degrees Celsius for a maximum of three months.

The vaccine cannot be kept at a lower temperature again after it has been distributed at a temperature of 2 to 8degree. People with severe allergies should not be vaccinated. According to experts, people who are allergic to polysorbate should not be vaccinated with AstraZeneca or Johnson.
