Kathmandu: The Main Opposition Leader and incumbent prime minister KP Sharma Oli sat in the Parliament House. But he did not dare to go to the House of Representatives and speak as the Leader of the Opposition. Deputy leaders of the UML parliamentary party, which is also the chairperson of the Constituent Assembly, attended the meeting. He also did not dare to go to the rostrum and speak. How ironic that both the Leader of the Opposition and the Deputy Leader of the Opposition could not stand in the rostrum of the Sovereign Parliament and speak in defense of themselves and their party.

Oli sent his party’s spokesperson Pradeep Gyawali to Rostam to appear. Instead of apologizing to the parliament for preserving the tarnished image of his leader and party, Gyawali also tarnished his own personal image as a Youth Force activist. Gyawali spoke on the oppositions of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on Sunday.
Gyawali said that the UML was used to being in the opposition. But looking at the past history, the party that has been in power for the longest time, he has forgotten the history.

Past facts show that the UML is not weaker than the Congress in terms of power. Since 2047 BS, UML has been in the government for 16 years and 1 month with 7 years of leadership. The UML’s involvement in the 2047 Interim Government on behalf of the Left Front, was accompanied by RPP leader Lokendra Bahadur Chand and the then King Gyanendra Shah’s so-called ‘regression is half corrected’.

UML has also led the government from Manmohan Adhikari’s minority single to KP Sharma Oli’s two-thirds majority government. Meanwhile, UML has four prime ministers. So far, Manmohan Adhikari, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal and KP Sharma Oli have become four prime ministers.
Oli is also a lucky leader to become prime minister twice. He had the opportunity to become Home Minister for the first time, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister for the second time and Prime Minister for the last time in 2072 BS and 2074 BS.

UML has been in the government 14 times. In the meantime, the Congress has been in government for 20 years with 15 years and 8 months of leadership. Despite being in the mainstream for only 15 years, the Maoists have been in government for 10 years and 5 months.

Seen in this light, there are facts that make it very difficult for these parties to sit in opposition.
