The Supreme Court has stopped the implementation of the provision that no graduate is required to become an ambassador

Kathmandu, : The Supreme Court has barred the implementation of the provision for the appointment of a person who has already become a Minister of the Government of Nepal even if he does not have a bachelor’s degree.

The directive was amended on April 8. Although the bachelor’s degree was compulsory for other persons, the directive was amended so that a bachelor’s degree would not be required for a person who has already become a minister. The procedure was amended to provide that a bachelor’s degree is not required for a person who has already become a Minister of the Government of Nepal.

The court said that the amendment was against the right to equality guaranteed by the constitution and ordered not to implement it. A single bench of Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut has issued an interim order not to implement the said provision of the revised directive. The government has amended the directive and recommended ambassadors to 11 different countries. The list of recommendations has been sent to the parliament for parliamentary hearing. However, there is no hearing. With the court order, the appointment process will now be hampered.
