Taking a vote of confidence, Chief Minister Bhatta, FW Province today

Dhangadhi June 8 : Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatta of the CPN-Maoist center-led Far-Western Provincial Government is proposing to take a vote of confidence in the Provincial assembly meeting today.
CPN-UML has issued instructions to vote against the proposal. The UML Far-Western Provincial Committee has also instructed the party’s parliamentary party to issue a whip.

UML Provincial chief Karna Thapa and secretary Rajendra Rawal have sent letters to parliamentary party leader Prakash Shah and chief whip Durga BK instructing them to use a whip to vote against Chief Minister Bhatt’s proposal.
The Far-Western Provincial Assembly has 52 members. Here, Chief Minister Bhatt needs 27 votes to get a vote of confidence.
CPN-UML has 24 members. The CPN-MC has 13 members. There are 12 members of the Nepali Congress and two members of the Janata Samajwadi Party of Nepal.

Nine out of 24 UML members are in favor of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli while the rest are in favor of Madhav Kumar Nepal side. Bhatta can garner a vote of confidence if a Nepal faction’s MP crosses the floor and casts his vote.
The Congress has not disclosed to Chief Minister Bhatta whether to vote for or against the no-confidence motion. JSP has not yet decided what to do as there is a dispute within the party at the center. The two members of the Provincial assembly are close to Chairman Mahanta Thakur.
