Senior citizens to be vaccinated against coronavirus from today

Kathmandu, June 8: The government is vaccinating senior citizens against the corona virus from today after China provided the vaccine with a grant.

The government is going to give the first dose of Chinese vaccine Verosel by revising the age group for vaccination in districts other than Kathmandu Valley.

It has been decided to give the vaccine to the age group of 60 to 64 years only to the age group of 62 to 64 years.

A statement issued by the Family Welfare Division of the Health Services Department on Monday said that only people in the age group of 62 to 64 years have been instructed to be vaccinated in the districts outside the Kathmandu Valley.

In Himali district, people above 55 years of age have already been vaccinated and if the group misses the vaccine, it is ready to be vaccinated.

The government is also preparing to give the first dose to health workers, medical college students, interns, OJT’s nursing and paramedics and those who are directly involved in the examination of patients, who have not been vaccinated before.

In order to be vaccinated, it is requested to bring the official document with age photo and in case of non-availability of government document, the ward office recommendation letter.

The vaccine will be available through the centers of all 32 ward offices of the Kathmandu metropolis.
