NC Central Committee meeting: Deuba outraged after Mahesh Acharya raises questions

Kathmandu : After questioning his role in the Central Committee meeting of the Nepali Congress, President Sher Bahadur Deuba has become indignant at the meeting. In Thursday’s meeting, central member Mahesh Acharya had expressed dissatisfaction over the non-observance of rules in the party and non-discussion of issues in the party. According to a central member of the Nepali Congress, Deuba was enraged by Acharya’s statement and tried to stop him from speaking.

“There has been no discussion in the party. The opposition has formed an alliance. The party has not been able to make a decision and statements have started coming from the opposition alliance, ”Acharya had questioned. “Discussions started in the coalition rather than the party.

Deuba questioned to Acharya “First, should form a government with Madhav Nepal, now should not form an alliance with him, and now should form a government with Prachanda,” one of central member said, quoting Deuba. “There are different criteria on the same issue,” Deuba said. However, the member said that Acharya gave a polite reply.

“You are making decisions with the communists without any discussion in the party. In this case, whether the party can take responsibility for the situation tomorrow or not, “said Acharya.” I will give suggestions from my place. It is up to the president to decide whether to implement it or not. “

one of central member said that acharya’s intention did not mean to co-operate with the Communists, adding that if the party had to take responsibility for such co-operation, there should be a discussion within the party.

Sources said that Deuba repeatedly tried to stop Acharya, who was the first speaker after the meeting, but Acharya replied in a polite manner.

“vital crisis has been added to the country during the Corona virus epidemic. At such a time, the people are waiting for the decision and opinion of the Nepali Congress, “the leader said, quoting Acharya.” What will be the role of the party and the image of the Congress in the eyes of the people when the president issues a statement from the opposition alliance?

Acharya said that Deuba did not form an alliance only, he had to shake hands with the communists. If not, a joint statement should have been issued, ”the central member was quoted as saying.

Regarding the meeting, another central member said that president Deuba did not have the patience to listen to others questions ad comments.

“The president is not in the habit of listening patiently to others. He has a habit of answering directly, “said the central member.” His style and temperament is the same when I speak tomorrow. Anyone who wants to speak clearly in the Central Committee should be ready to clash with the chairperson. ” He said that Deuba’s style was similar even when he spoke to senior central members also.

Some leaders of the Nepali Congress disagree with the shake hands to communists. Few Congress leaders have also disagreed with the recent statements issued by five former prime ministers of the opposition alliance, including Deuba. In particular, they fear that ‘outside interference in Nepali politics will not be acceptable’, in that statement is irritating India and straining relations with the Congress.
