Kathmandu June 11 : The Mass Civil movement has condemned the move, saying it is preparing to give affiliation to its “nearby” medical college, contrary to the Supreme Court’s decision.

The civil movement has said that such behavior of the government will take the marketing of public health one step further.

‘The Oli government, which is ready to attack the democratic process and the constitution itself, is now using the stick of arbitrariness in the autonomy of the Medical Education Commission as well.

It is the responsibility of not only the health workers in the healthcare sector but also the citizens as a whole to fight against the irresponsible character of attacking the fundamental rights and handing over the medical education and the overall health system to the market, ‘said a statement issued by the civil movement on Thursday.

Appealing to all health workers, professionals and citizens to unite and resist against this betrayal and arbitrariness, the civil movement has said, “Whether it is medical education or public health infrastructure and policy making, the fundamental rights of the people and community-centered health must be ensured.”

The government should not forget its responsibility to the people when enacting laws or giving medical college affiliation or any other work that directly affects public health infrastructure or policy.

The statement further said, “In the midst of the epidemic, we are being forced to overthrow the dictatorial and unconstitutional KP Oli government.” As in the constitution and politics, this government is displaying anti-people and reactionary character even in the most serious issues like public health. ‘
