Kathmandu : Leaders of the opposition coalition have agreed to pursue an independent foreign policy. Earlier, five former prime ministers who were also involved in the alliance had said that Nepalis should be the ones to decide on Nepal.
They said that they wanted to maintain good relations with the international community on the basis of independent foreign policy only on the basis of the national interest mentioned in the constitution. “We believe that in a changing world environment, the national interest must be protected on the basis of a democratic system, with the firm belief that Nepalis will decide Nepal, keeping in mind Nepal’s pride and self-respect,” Nepali congress president Sher bahadur Deuba said among the editors in Thursday.

In interaction program Nepal communist party (Maoist Center) Chairman Puspakamal Dahal Prachanda said that the five former prime ministers had issued the statement considering the serious situation in the country. “We have said that Nepalis should decide about Nepal. This is done to prevent any kind of foreign manipulation. This is not to say that the situation is not serious, “he said.” If the five former prime ministers do not inform the public about the situation, who will do it?
