Kathmandu, June 4: Eight ministers and two ministers of state from the Janata Samajwadi Party of Nepal’s Mahanta Thakur faction have joined the current KP Sharma Oli government. According to JSP executive member Laxman Lal Karna, the party has already submitted the names of 10 candidates for the government as per the agreement reached with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. He is scheduled to be sworn in at 6 pm today.
Rajendra Mahato, Sarat Singh Bhandari, Anil Kumar Jha, Laxman Lal Karna, Chanda Chaudhary, Ekwal Miah, Vimal Srivastava, Uma Shankar Aragaria and Renuka Gurung and Chandra Kant Chaudhary have been appointed as ministers.
According to JSP sources, Rajendra Mahato, Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development, Sharad Singh Bhandari, Energy and Water Resources, Anil Jha, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Laxman Lal Karna, Land Management and Cooperatives, Bimal Srivastava, Labor and Employment, Umashankar Aragaria, Forest and Environment Chanda Chaudhary, Women and Minister of State for Children, Ekwal Miah, Youth and Sports, Chandrakant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Energy and Renu Gurung will be the Minister of State for Women and Children.
Thakur’s party has recently joined the Oli government as the party is on the verge of splitting. Thakur’s group is in the minority in the party’s central executive committee. The Upendra Yadav faction has expelled four leaders, including Thakur and Mahato from the party. The Yadav faction is agitating against the Oli government along with the opposition coalition.
