Kathmandu, May 21: Advocates have filed separate writ petitions against President Vidyadevi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Advocates Santosh Bhandari, Ram Bahadur Shahi, Shailendra Ambedkar and Bir Bhadra Joshi are going to file separate writ petitions in the Supreme Court.
The call for a new government without the resignation of the prime minister or without a vote of confidence has been widely criticized as unconstitutional. Even former chief justices have expressed surprise at the actions of the president and prime minister.
Advocates have argued that the statement issued by the President’s Office should be rejected and that it cannot enter into clause 5 without examining clause 4 of Article 76 of the Constitution.
