Kathmandu May 31 : A total of 297 people have cast their votes in the by-election for the National Assembly in Lumbini. Three out of 300 voters abstained from voting on Monday.
Mayor of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis Dhawal Shamsher Rana was absent after the announcement.
Similarly, Chairman of Narainapur Village Municipality Banke Mohammad Istiaq Sah has gone to Lucknow for treatment.
Gulmi’s Durbar village chairman Ashok Thapa is also ill. He is undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.
Although three local level people’s representatives were not present, all the 83 members of the state assembly cast their votes, according to the Election Commission.
In Lumbini, there are two candidates from the CPN-UML’s KP Sharma Oli group and the opposition alliance. The result will come today.
