Kathmandu May 26 : All 15 former standing committee members of the CPN-UML’s Madhav Kumar Nepal group have announced a united struggle against party Chairman KP Sharma Oli. In a joint statement issued today, they accused Oli of splitting the party by using hegemonic style of action.
In the UML, the Nepal group had been demanding that the party and the organization should be run as per the decision of the Supreme Court on Phagun 23, 2075 BS. Chairman Oli had been objecting to the illegal decision of dismissing the leaders elected from the General Convention and giving responsibility to those who were not party members.
Fifteen leaders of the Nepal Group, including Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Nepal, have said in a joint statement, “It is the duty of every democratic patriotic politician to speak out against the dissolution of the House of Representatives as it is an arbitrary and regressive crime.”
Recently, 26 lawmakers, including Khanal-Nepal, had signed in favor of Sher Bahadur Deuba, the common candidate of the opposition alliance, while 23 lawmakers had signed the writ petition filed in the Supreme Court. Former secretary and MP Yogesh Bhattarai, who was released in the process, is also on the side of Nepal.

According to a leader close to Nepal, today’s statement is not only a response but also the announcement of a new party. Some time ago, Madhav Nepal has registered with the CPN (Unified) Election Commission under the leadership of Jeevan Rai. party’s election symbol is propesed ‘pen’ . The pro-Nepal candidate has also won Khimlal Devkota in the National Assembly on May 20 with the help of the Opposition Coalition.
