writ petitions against the dissolution of the parliament heard on May 27 and 28

Kathmandu May 25 : Thirty writ petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the parliament. Out of them, 19 writ petitions have been demanded to be heard in the general session and 11 writ petitions in the constitutional session.

According to the Supreme Court, the hearing of 19 writ petitions seeking interim order has been fixed for Thursday, May 27. Similarly, 11 writ petitions seeking hearing in the Constitutional Court have been fixed for hearing on Friday May 28.

After President Bidyadevi Bhandari ruled that there was no basis for the appointment of the Prime Minister as per Article 76 (5), the Parliament was dissolved by the President on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on May 22 and the date of the election was fixed on November 12 and 19.

The dissolution of the parliament is unconstitutional and 146 lawmakers have also filed a writ petition at the supreme court demanding the appointment of Sher Bahadur Deuba as the prime minister as per Article 76 (5).
