Resource amounting to Rs 7 billion guaranteed for election

The government has assured a budget amounting to Rs 7 billion for the election scheduled for coming April 30 and May 10. At a press conference held at the Ministry of Finance today, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel shared that the financial resources worth Rs 7 billion was provided to the National Election Commission in the first phase. On the recommendation of the government, President Bidya Devi Bhandari on December 20 had announced elections for coming April 30 and May 10 by dissolving the House of Representatives.

Minister Poudel shared that the budget was determined for electoral expenses by shifting financial resources unlikely to be spent in different sectors. He also informed that the electoral expenses will be made in a cost effective manner. Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Deputy Prime Minister Iswar Pokharel and Finance Minister Poudel reached the Election Commission today for discussion on electoral preparation. Finance Minister confirmed this at the press conference. Also on the occasion, Poudel said that the parliamentary endorsement of the US-funded project MCC would be made after the constitution of a new parliament.
