Stakeholders consulted on reforms in judiciary

A study taskforce formed to submit recommendations meant for ending anomalies, irregularities and intermediaries in the judiciary has held discussions with the stakeholders in Baglung district on Wednesday.

A member of the taskforce and Supreme Court Justice, Prakash Man Singh Raut, met with the judges of High Court, Baglung and district judges of Parbat, Baglung and Myagdi to collect their views. He also consulted with the representatives of Nepal Bar Associations, security personnel, officials and journalists as well over the issue. On the occasion, Justice Raut said that discussions were held to solicit information on impacts of intermediaries in justice delivery and the ideas to curb dillydallying in the courts. He added that the taskforce was collecting feedback from across the country through studies and interactions to maintain the people’s trust on the judiciary and guard the dignity of the judiciary. “We are also holding discussions on what could be done to ensure citizen’s access to justice.

We will submit the recommendations with the citizen’s fair perspectives,” Justice Raut mentioned. The recommendations would be discussed in the full bench of the Supreme Court, he shared. On Wednesday itself, Justice Raut urged the officials to curb irregularities in the judiciary while highlighting the roles of officials in justice delivery.
