Poem recitation against GBV

A poem recitation programme was organized at Rajbiraj against gender based violence (GBV) as part of the ongoing 16-day campaign against GBV.

The competitive poem recitation was organized jointly by GBV campaign and Maithili Women Council. Raj Ray Yadav stood first, Pinki Jha the second and Mina Saha the third in the Maithili competition. Yadav presented a poem entitled ‘Rape and Justice’, Jha ‘Right to safe life’ and Saha ‘Mithila’s Daughter’.

The main event organizing committee coordinator Manohar Pokhrel, Chairman of Community Service Centre, Hitnarayan Lal and Chairman of Maithili Women Council, Shanti Jha handed over the prizes and certificates to the winners. Programme coordinator Pokhrel informed that the society that is against crimes should not compromise in mediation in rape case. Everyone who gets information on the violence should be alert against the crimes.

The gender based violence is the concern not only of women but a common problem indeed, he added. On the occasion, Bandana Mishra presented a working on 16-day long campaign against GBV.

She stressed the need of formulating and implementing stringent laws and changing social thoughts to end GBV.
