Over 1,000 households in Kavrepalanchowk awaiting land ownership certificates for 45 years

Kavrepalanchowk, Dec 6

It has been 45 years since as many as 1,000 households at Bhumlu Rural Municipality-2 in Kavrepalanchowk district lack land ownership certificate and have been seeking positive intervention to this issue from the concerned authorities, but to no avail so far.

Although the staffers at the Office of Land Revenue and Land Survey Office in the district were mobilised to resolve the long pending issues last year, the locals blamed that they did not resume the land ownership certification distribution process citing various reasons. One among the reasons was border dispute between the then Bhumlutar and Falante Rural Municipality due to which the locals in these two local units have been unable to receive the important document on their land, according to Ramesh Kharel, a local of ward no 6 in the Bhumlu Rural Municipality.

“The staffers in the related offices are also regular to their offices and delay the process under various pretexts,” Kharel said. Chief of Office of Land Revenue in the district Lok Bahadur Bhandari said that the issue surrounding land ownership certificate in Bhumu could not be resolved without a High-level Special Commission. Meanwhile, former Minister for Communication, Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota on last Friday had made an on-site visit in Bhumle to take stock of the process relating to land ownership certificate.

He had assured the locals that the issue was brought to the knowledge of the Council of Ministers and the concerned ministry had taken cognizance of the issue so as to seek resolution to it. Ward no 8 Chair Motilal Tamang shared that 365 households in ward no 7 and 589 in ward no 8 lack land ownership certificate for 45 years.
