Government forms Advertisement Board

The government has constituted the Advertisement Board for the first time with the objective of formulating the overall advertisement policy and regulating the advertisement in the communications sector of Nepal.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has appointed Chairman of the Rajdhani Daily Publications Mahendra Bahadur Sherchan and journalists Shuva Shankar Kandel, Balaram Thapa, Chandra Neupane, and Bandana Danuwar as members of the Board.

Among the members of the Advertising Board, Shubha Shankar Kandel is the current President of the Nepal Media Society and Editor-in-Chief of ABC Television, Nepal.

Other members of the board are Bandana Danuwar of the Community Radio Broadcasters Association (ECOWA), Mahendra Bahadur Sherchan, chairman of Rajdhani Daily, and Balram Thapa, a journalist.

The term of the Board members would be of four years. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung handed the appointment letters to all the members amid a programme organized at the Ministry today. On the occasion, the Minister wished them success in discharging their duty.

The Chairperson of the Board would be selected through open competition. The Joint Secretary each from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology would also be the members of the Board.
