A look at the week of events preceding President Donald Trump’s announcement that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus,
President Donald Trump tweeted early Friday morning that he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19. In the week leading up to the bombshell announcement, Trump had maintained a busy schedule and came into close contact with many people who were often not wearing masks.

Trump nominates Judge Amy Coney Barrett of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit to the U.S. Supreme Court at a White House event. Guests including First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, U.S. Attorney General William Barr, White House aides, senators, University of Notre Dame President Rev. John I. Jenkins and members of Barrett’s family attended the event without wearing masks and did not practice social distancing. Rev. Jenkins and Sen.
