Police Constable Saud’s Body Recovered From Mohana River In Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi, Oct. 20: Body of Police Constable Ram Bahadur Saud, who was killed along with Assistant Sub-inspector Govinda BK, has been recovered today from Mohana River.

Saud was missing since the last 60 hours. He was found buried under the bed of Mohana River on Tuesday.

Both, Saud and BK were murdered on Saturday night while they were patrolling at Nepal-India border. They were posted at the temporary police post at Jugeda in Dangadhi Sup-metropolitan City-12.

Sub Inspector Dilip Deuba, chief of Kailal District Police Office, said that after the continuous search operation, the body was recovered from Mohana River.

“The body was buried under the river and only the legs were visible,” said Deuba.

From the nature of the crime scene and the bodies recovered, the police have concluded that the police officials were killed somewhere else and their bodies were disposed in the river.

“The might have been murdered at the sugarcane farm nearby,” said Deuba.

The area of the crime is considered to be a transit-point for smuggling. Various goods are smuggled from the Prasasariya, Suda and Bangati Bazaar of India which are near to the place of crime.

The police have concluded that both the police officials were killed in the ambush set up by the smugglers.

The crime took place four days after the police at temporary check post had confiscated goods smuggled from India.

Some 16 suspects have been detained by the police from the villages nearby.

“We are interrogating them. As both the bodies have been recovered, we will reach to the murderers soon,” said Deuba.
