Rescue team reaches Tanjakot with relief materials to landslide victims

Lamjung, Aug 19

A team including ministers of Karnali State government on Tuesday reached Tanjakot in Humla district with a relief package to landslide victims four days after the tragedy.

Landslips at Tanjkot-2 and 3 on Saturday and Sunday displaced 118 families, damaged over 50 houses completely and put 192 houses at risk. The office of the rural municipality and Dharmodaya Secondary School were also damaged in the disaster. Seven hundred fifty six people have been displaced by the disaster, said the police.

The rescue team included Minister for Economy Affairs and Planning Prakash Jwala, Minister for Social Development Dala Rawal and member of Karnali Planning Commission Dr Dipendra Rokaya.

The state government’s attempt to supply relief materials to the victims through a helicopter right after the tragedy failed due to various reasons, said Prashant Dhamala, ward chair of the municipality-4.
