Manang health office chief contracts coronavirus infection, district hospital sealed off

Two additional coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Manang. Chief District Officer Dhruba Giri shared that the chief of the Manang Health Office, a local of Chapakot, Syangja, was diagnosed with the virus.

Medical Officer Dr Santosh Adhikari shared that all other services excluding emergency service of the district hospital have been shut for contact tracing after the health chief tested positive for the coronavirus. Giri further shared a teacher of Pisang primary school at Manang Disyang rural municipality, a local of Bharatpur-16, was also diagnosed with the coronavirus infection.

In a press statement issued by the Gandaki State Health Directorate today, two persons of Manang with their age at 49 and 51 had also tested positive for the deadly virus. “Manang District Health Office chief and teacher have been confirmed with the infection”, Medical Officer Adhikari said. Both the infected entered the district on 4 August. With this the district tally of coronavirus infected has reached five.

One of them has recovered from the disease. Swab samples of as many as 115 people who came to contact with the two coronavirus-infected teachers were collected for lab test. Two among the examined were diagnosed with the virus. According to Giri, contact tracing and swab samples collections are taking place simultaneously.

Likewise, Chame rural municipality has put off all the services excluding the emergency ones being delivered by the rural municipality and ward offices until 31 August, shared its chairperson Lokendra Bahadur Ghale
