Rare species of python found

Waling, June 24

A rare species of python was witnessed in Chapakot Municipalityu-10 of Syangja district on Friday.

The locals had informed the Division Forest Office and Police Post after the python was spotted in a tree. The python is around 10 ft long and weighs some 25-30 kgs, it is said.

Chief of Division Forest Office in Syangja, Komal Raj Kafle, said the officials from the Area Forest Office, Damachaur, were sent to the site after getting information on the python.

The python might have arrived from the nearby Kaligandaki River. It can swim and climb tree easily, Kafle added. We are working for its protection since it is enlisted as a protected species, according to Kafle.
