NCP leaders suggest PM to abide by party’s decisions

KATHMANDU, July 1: some Standing committee members of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and incumbent ministers have suggested the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to move ahead in line with the decisions made by the party’s SC meeting.

Prime Minister Oli held a consultation with some ministers and leaders  close to him at his official residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday morning amid mounting pressure on him to step down from power. Most Standing Committee members who spoke during the meeting on Tuesday had argued that Oli had lost moral grounds to head both the government and the party.

Shortly after their meeting with the PM, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Yogesh Bhattarai through his Facebook post said that PM Oli had called some members of the Standing Committee to discuss the intra-party issues which have surfaced in recent days. According to Minister Bhattarai, Prime Minister Oli briefed them that he was holding consultation with other leaders as well.

“PM Oli was suggested to safeguard the party unity at any cost, take initiative to resolve the differences within the party and strengthen the party on a new foundation to fulfill the responsibility handed over to the party by the history and Nepali people,” wrote Bhattarai, while urging party leaders not to indulge in proxy war.

Minister Ghanashyam Bhusal said it was time for all to give a test of their wisdom and patience. He also said that the untoward incident that the party is likely to face would be dealt with in a united manner.
